We did a charcoal session in our weekly art class in the studio today...got me all worked up about charcoal, so here's a little welsh house for you.

L'etranger

Inspired by the passionate hardcore inky stylings of Ashley Wood tonight, I threw some ink around and created, um, a chicken.

He is suffering existential angst.

Actually, no. Just a bunch a anxious chickens. I just wanted a more snappy title to this post than the image suggested. Now I have chickens and photoshop out of my system I can go back to my lovely stinky oil paints.

Trying to animate this little geezer in flash at the moment. It is not co-operating, and I really should just go to bed. And stop blogging.

Robot

Got these three little canvases I'm working on at the moment. They were going to be three dog portraits, but then they turned out to be two dogs and a robot- Which just looked a bit stupid. anyway, here's the robot.

Storytellin'

It's coming up to passover here in Israel, and I was in my son's Kindergarten whilst this Rabbi/Storyteller dude was performing a pertinent story for the kids. He had a face that looked like he does a lot of smiling. I brought my sketchbook to alleviate the inevitable boredom that comes from not speaking enough Hebrew to understand everything...Working on it though.

Added some colour to one my sketchbook drawings. Personally I think I made a pig's ear* of it, and some things should be better left alone. How much is too much? Tricky to judge.

*that's english for making a mess. For my kosher readers, I can also suggest 'Dog's Breakfast', as in- 'You made a Dog's Breakfast of that painting, JP'.

skinny houses

Love skinny houses. Bit of an animation cliche, I guess, but still- I love them . Amsterdam is architecture paradise for me.

Train girl

Sketched her on the ride home today. There was something very calm and balanced about her pose which I tried to catch. Got to work on my hands, as well the art of glancing and sketching, without looking like I'm checking people out. Tricky.

Bugs

Loving bugs right now, and exploring watercolours. I had another painting to post, but that was trashed by my two year old. As well as the carpet.

Polo neck guy

I once worked in a theatre where two directors called a particularly annoying intern 'Polo neck', -on account of his pretentious black polo neck wearing, all the time.
